AUTHOR

Dr. Phang Cheng Kar (Zhen-Phang), M.D., is a highly respected consultant psychiatrist and mindfulness therapist at Sunway Medical Centre. With a passion for empowering individuals to lead healthier, more balanced lives, he is the creator of MINDFULGym, Malaysia’s leading mindfulness-based stress reduction and wellness program. He has delivered hundreds of engaging talks and workshops, sharing practical tools for cultivating mindfulness, reducing stress, and enhancing well-being.

 

A prolific author and thought leader, he has written several impactful books, including “I’m Still Human: Understanding Depression with Kindness” and “NOW: Who Wants to Learn MINDFULGym? - 12 Mindful Tools for Stress Reduction & Wellness.” His writing blends professional expertise with deep Buddhist wisdom, making complex mental health concepts accessible and relatable.

 

In addition to clinical and teaching roles, he founded the Malaysia Association for Mindfulness Practice & Research and the Kuala Lumpur Buddhist Mental Health Association. Through these organizations, he continues to champion the integration of mindfulness into mental health care and community well-being.
